Apply for a Scholarship to Muse 2023
The Muse & the Marketplace conference series and GrubStreet are committed to making the literary world accessible to writers from all backgrounds. We are offering partial, need-based scholarships to our 2023 spring and summer programming. There is no application fee.
Tuition Scholarships cover half of the registration cost for our weekend publishing summits, which is $85 per summit. You may apply for a scholarship to our May summit (May 18–21), our July summit (July 27–30), or both.
Manuscript Mart Scholarships cover half of the cost of an appointment, which is $90, and we will grant a maximum of one per applicant for 2023. You must register for our May summit to participate in May Manuscript Mart. You must register for our July summit to participate in July Manuscript Mart.
Scholarships will be reviewed and granted on a rolling basis and cannot be applied retroactively. APPLY by Friday, February 10, to receive a response before registration opens. We cannot hold Manuscript Mart appointments (which often sell out quickly!) while we review applications, so the earlier you apply, the better.
Deadlines to APPLY:
- Monday, April 3, for May Manuscript Mart
- Monday, May 8, for May summit
- Monday, June 12, for July Manuscript Mart
- Monday, July 17, for July summit
The Muse and GrubStreet are committed to making the literary world accessible to writers from all backgrounds. Successful applications usually contain 1–2 short paragraphs per question. We do not ask for corroborating documents; we only ask that you help us understand your situation.
Applications are reviewed by the Muse Team. We base our decisions on a combination of financial need and writerly promise. We especially welcome applications from writers who have been historically underrepresented in the literary arts.
