#Muse19 Scholarship Application

We at GrubStreet offer numerous partial need-based scholarships--for general audiences, for writers doing great work in the literary community, and for writers from historically marginalized backgrounds. No previous publication or MFA required, and there is no application fee.

If you are eligible, we welcome you to apply for multiple scholarships selecting all scholarships you'd like to be considered for in your application.

The deadline for all scholarship applications is Monday, November 5th at 11:59pm ET. We will send out notifications to everyone by November 19th.

Nearly all scholarships are awarded in quantities of $250, to be used towards Muse 2019 registration. Occasionally we offer larger amounts to individuals demonstrating particular need and merit. All scholarships we offer are listed below.

Financial Assistance Scholarship

This scholarship is issued based on financial need. Please describe in your application.

Writer of Color Scholarship

For writers who identify as a person of color. We are committed to making unique needs of writers of color central to our craft and publishing conversations.

Visiting Writer Scholarship

For aspiring fiction and narrative nonfiction writers living OUTSIDE of New England (Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Vermont).

Literary Citizen Scholarship

Are you making a difference in the literary community? We want you at the Muse! We're offering a Literary Citizen scholarship for a writer who is working to help other writers, and/or grow and improve their literary community. Please describe in your application.

Scholarship for a Writer Living with a Disability

This scholarship is meant to support a writer living with a physical, intellectual or emotional disability.

Non-Traditional Writer Scholarship

For a writer whose demonstrated path as an artist stands outside the MFA program or publishing industry model. Please describe in your application.

LGBTQ+ Writer Scholarship

This scholarship is meant to support writers who identify as LGBTQ+.

Write Down the Street Student Scholarship

This scholarship is for writers who participate in GrubStreet's Write Down the Street program.

Absolutely! On your application, just select all the scholarships for which you’d like to be considered.
