Sandy Lu

Sandy Lu is a literary agent at the L. Perkins Agency, which she joined in 2009.

She holds BAs in psychology and sociology from Queens College, with minors in music, business, and Japanese.  Prior to becoming an agent, she attended the Ph.D. Program in Social and Personality Psychology at the CUNY Graduate Center and worked as a business manager in the theater industry. Born and raised in Taiwan, she is fluent in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese.

Sandy represents both literary and commercial fiction, as well as select non-fiction. She is seeking submissions that will draw her in with a unique voice, make her miss her subway stop and keep her up all night with a thrilling plot, and characters who will stay with her long after she turns the last page. Bonus points if you can make her laugh out loud or unable to hold back tears in public.

Sandy loves historical fiction and anything dark, twisted, or with a supernatural bent. She specializes in mystery, thrillers, and suspense, but she is always looking for science fiction, fantasy, horror, romance, upmarket women’s fiction, and YA. For non-fiction, she is interested in history, biography, science, pop culture, culinary arts, and narrative non-fiction.

Her client list includes Kindle bestsellers, Stoker Award and Hammett Prize nominees, and New York Times Best of the Year recipient.
