HEATHER CARR

Heather Carr is a literary agent at The Friedrich Agency where she represents fiction and nonfiction for adults. Originally from the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, she attended university in the Midwest and ended her eastbound journey in Brooklyn, NY where she now lives with companions both human and feline. Heather is looking for voice-driven narrative nonfiction, particularly by a writer who guides the reader into a world they are uniquely positioned to write about. She’s also seeking literary fiction and high-concept commercial fiction including that which dabbles in the surreal and suspenseful. She's easily charmed by offbeat humor and setting-as-character. In all writing, she’s on the hunt for a singular voice and new perspectives.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

Voice-drive narrative nonfiction that teaches me something new (like Caitlin Doughty’s From Here to Eternity or Sy Montgomery’s The Soul of an Octopus). Literary fiction with a singular voice (like Weike Wang’s Chemistry or Jen Beagin’s Pretend I'm Dead).
