Dana Murphy

Dana Murphy is a literary agent with The Book Group, focusing on upmarket and literary fiction and voice-driven nonfiction. After studying critical film theory and sociology at New York University, Dana began her literary career in 2012 as an assistant to Brettne Bloom and Elisabeth Weed.  In 2015, The Book Group was founded and Dana began building her own list. Dana loves adult and young adult fiction that feels surprising and immersive, as well as smart narrative non-fiction/essays about pop culture, social issues, feminism, diversity, film and television, music, and comedy. She is always looking for fresh and bold voices, a sense of humor, and characters that stick in your thoughts long after the story is finished.
